In the event of rain, we will convene in one of Tudor Place’s lovely indoor rooms and venture outside to tour the garden with our umbrellas.
If you received one at the June members-only event, please wear your PRS name tag!
We look forward to seeing you on Sunday September 17, rain or shine, from 1 to 4 PM for an End of Summer Social at Tudor Place Historic House & Garden. Let’s celebrate the last week of Summer among the roses, at our final in-person meeting of the year. PRS members and their guests are welcome, and refreshments will be served.
Tudor Place is a 5.5 acre oasis, located in the heart of Georgetown in Washington, DC. Combining a fascinating 200+ year history with environmental awareness and sustainable horticultural practices, Tudor Place is committed to preserving the historic architecture, objects, documents and landscapes of this historic landmark. The highlight for rose lovers is the formal knot garden, including many historic rose varieties set off by extensive boxwood plantings. The roses at Tudor Place are maintained sustainably, without the use of toxic chemicals that would harm the bee population and other beneficial insects.
PRS members and their guests will have an opportunity to explore the lovely gardens and to participate in guided tours of the Historic House. There will also be a short program featuring our host, PRS board member Allyson Whalley, Director of Buildings, Gardens and Grounds at Tudor Place. The short program will begin at 1:30 PM, and guided tours of the Historic House will commence at 2 and 3 PM. Registration for house tours will be available on the day.
